For such a weapon, I very much appreciate the miniscule but handy 16" barrel. And I remove the brake or flash hider, replaced with a thread protector.

For CQB, or hunting the brush, I love short barrels. Plus, when you get old, a shorter rifle makes it far easier to get out of the truck, in a hurry...;)

If you don't shoot over a chronograph you will love 16". But an Ar platform robbing gas to make them cycle slows the bullet down to. 20" all day!!

Yes, everything is a trade off. I've also got plenty of rifles with full-length barrels. And less and less are they used. The portability outweighs velocity, for my uses.
