I had not seen the video (thanks for posting that!), but the book is fascinating. I had a copy as a teen, but have long since lost track of it. A great read if you can find a copy!

Short video of a Marine pilot who ejected from an F8 Crusader at 47000 feet. I've been looking for the book but they are pretty expensive. Maybe my wife will get me one for Christmas.😄


I just found a copy, used of course, at $149 on Abebooks. They go up from that price. Rapidly.

Marine pilots are tough but he didn't expect that when he woke up that morning.
Single engine fighters with a failure are in bad shape, especially at 47k feet.

Bill Weaver survived a freefall from a Mach3 @ 78,800 feet flight in a SR-71 Blackbird..
But his RSO didn't.
