hey, gang,
Remember the old days, when you could get a great deal on ammo
.22 LR 25 cents a box.
12 ga #6 shot $.50 a box.
Those were the days my friend. We thought they's never end,
to quote an old song.

I remember getting Sunoco 260 for 32 cent per gallon!

Wow.. There's a name I haven't heard in 45+ years! Sunoco 260! I'd put that stuff on my sandwich if I could eat it. But I haven't seen a Sun Oil Co station since the early 1970s.

*sigh*

Regards, Pete

My 10.5:1 340 liked it.

Sunoco 260 was all Vinny ran in his 68 Hemi Charger when I was a teen; 6mpg. I remember scrounging couch cushions to feed the beast. I never recall it being 32¢ per gallon, but I'm not doubting it. We still have some Sunoco stations in my area. I'd like to put one of their illuminated signs in my garage as a pleasant reminder of a time you flipped the lever to what grade fuel you wanted, lead and all :)

Yup the Good Ol' Days.

But how much money weren't you makin' back then?....

Ray,
At the time, I thought it was pretty good.
$1.50 an hour.

Oh, BTW, Remember Texaco, "You can trust your car to the man who wears the star"?

There are Sunoco stations here in Central NJ.
The Good Old Days were, when kids played Cowboys and Indians or War or had Western play sets, talked in school about going shooting with their dad or uncle, they were considered All American boys and envied by the other kids. Today they'd be condemned as terrorists and psychotics.

My 11 year old grand daughter told her grandma (my wife) that she wanted to become a millionaire and would grandma show her how to do it.

I didn't tell her, but my thought was that by the time she is our age, any one will a college education and a good job will be making $1M per year.

But that won't mean much because a steak dinner will cost $500 by then.

And a box of 50 rounds of 22lr will cost $100 -- assuming the gun grabbers don't outlaw all guns and ammo.

These are the good old days.

I do miss walking with my friends up to High's Ice Cream shop and getting a milk shake for 25 cents.

I remember pumping Chevron gasoline (Standard Oil) for 35 cents a gallon and giving away S&H Green Stamps.
Bought my first car in High School by doing that. :D

And that's the part that most people forget.

As a quick inflation calculation just multiply by 10 from those days. Among other things, that is why it is a joke that the Treasury continues to mint cents and nickles.

My dad (1902-1977) told me "these are the good old days" anybody saying otherwise has a bad memory or they never were there.

The Citco station at the corner of Noland and Rankin roads in Independence, MO sold gas for $0.19 a gallon; less during price wars. We aired up our bike tires there before heading down Noland road past Highway 40 to Wild Woody's.
