The Band

The Band---GREAT BAND!! I remember, in my younger days, going to a Hippie party in the 70s (with lots of very friendly Hippie girls) and hearing the recording for the first time---Music From Big Pink---wonderful music!

I've never been a devout music fan... kind of like most folks with art, I know what I like. Bob Dylan, CCR, Jimmy Buffet and such.... about 3 weeks ago while driving, my iPhone decided to start playing every song John Prine ever sang.... sometimes this new artificial intelligence is pretty cool.

I like every artist that you mentioned. Our family have always been big John Prine fans, been to at least 4 of his concerts. My daughter who is in her mid 50's only listens to John Prine while driving in her car.

One of the few things I like about PBS is they will have some decent programming about music during their fundraiser season. Saw an outstanding performance by the Band from a concert a number of years ago.

"The Band" is truly is one of the greatest of all time and "The Last Waltz" is there high point. I have never seen anyone perform with greater passion than Levon. "The Weight" is probably their best song, but "The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down" is my favorite. Look for Levon Helm on Youtube. He looks like he was always so happy. I miss Levon and his voice.

I believe in 2014 they held a concert for Lavon Helms. save the Barn party! the album for sale is " Love for Lavon" its a must own on blue ray. Roger Waters singing with Lavon,s daughter Amy was fantastic! "Wide River to Cross"
