I recently aquired a 1975 made ruger 77, and I dislike the wide forarm compared to the newer 7x57's forarm width. The 243 has a flat section at the midline of the bbl, while the 7x57 is more rounded and profiles the barrel better.

Besides that, I would like to save the old wood and get a lighter glass stock.

So who has a decent replacement stock on the market now, or a used one....lol

Please pm me if you have one, so it doesn't get sniped before I see your post... Like I have had happen on other websites.

Thank you
Allen

Allen: I am not sure I have an extra but the stocks you rae looking for or at least that I have on my tang safety 77s from that era are Bell and Carlson, Six and RimRock.

As I remember the B&C and the Six were drop in and the Rimrock was a drop in but much more exspensive very much like a Brown Precision.

The down side to the B&C was they had their own intergal sling attachments and didn't use standard sling swivels. They were fiberglass or something very similar.

The Six, and I just thought of it, Ramline were injection molded plastic but worked well.

The Rimrock was glass and kevlar and was really nice. They were also exspensive. I have one one of my flat bolts and really like it.

They do appear on flea bay from time to time.

I bought an inexpensive ramline for field use with my 77r several years ago. Its held up very well after several airplane rides and alot of hard hunting. Best part was the price!
