Folks,

Those of you lucky enough to have shot one of these jewels, How do you like or dislike them?

I like mine very well. I don't see any difference shooting it or my 4-5/8" models.

I am a fan of heavy bullets. I do think if a feller were to shoot the factory-loaded lighter bullets in this short barrel, it would be blinding.

WAYNO.

I was able to get one off GunBroker and a used one off this forum. I was very pleased with the used one when I shot it. Haven't shot it much due to daily rains. Northern Firearms has one on Gunbroker now for $619 shipped. I prefer 3&3/4 and 4&5/8 barrels even though I have longer barrels.

I have TWO !! One plow handled and one Bisley. They are great, fun, good shooting guns and as accurate in my hands as my 4 5/8" Super BH.

I love mine! Great little shooter. Pretty stout with mags, but a pleasure with 44spl.

Thanks for the replies. Every now and them I see one with brown laminate grips, are these correct?

A few months ago I purchased a 45 cal Flat Top convertable. I worked up some loads for it and found we shoot pretty good together. So good that I started wondering if I shoot it better than my 4" Redhawk.

So I decided to make up some similar loads for the two pistols and shoot them side by side. Shooting the Blackhawk side by side with my 4" Redhawk it seems the Blackhawk has a good bit less felt recoil. It is also lighter than the Redhawk.

Anyway I'm wondering if I would be happier with the Super Blackhawk than the Redhawk. I'm going to shoot them side by side again with chronograph to compare. I may end up selling the Redhawk and buy a Super Blackhawk.

The short barrel Talo model really has my eye. If not that one I would go with the standard 4-5/8" model.

Wayno, I favor the Lee 310 flat point gas check in the Redhawk at about 1050 FPS.

Couldn't take it any more. Found one on gunbroker fairly reasonable. Put a minimum bid on it. Figured if God wanted me to have it no one else would bid......God wanted me to have it.

Do you guys feel the Bisley is easier with the heavier loads?

You'll get quite a difference of opinions on this one. Here's mine.

The Bisley is easier to shoot more accurately. The trade off is a little more felt recoil. In the old days, I really preferred the Bisley frame. As I've "matured", and my fingers are substantially more beefy, my middle finger gets battered terribly by the trigger guard. The solution for me is curling my pinky below the grip, so I've only got two fingers on the grip. Gives some space away from the trigger guard for my middle finger. But, this raises the bore center higher in the hand, negating the geometric advantage of the Bisley frame.

Another opinion of mine...All the sharp edges on any of these single actions takes its toll on my hands during long strings of shooting. A little softening of these edges by the guns owner is time well spent. I had one short-barreled Super Blackhawk that had the entire gripframe rounded, and it was for me, the easiest shooting of any of my Supers.

WAYNO.

I've shot both and like the Bisley a whole lot better. A friend has the Bisley version and after fire-lapping it, it shoots lights-out. Very nice and packable piece.
