I think I've read some threads that refer to replacing the stock NM Blackhawk hammer with the Super Blackhawk model. Is it a drop in if true or is there a lot of fitting required? Is it worth it to have the wider hammer spur or are there other advantages?

NM to NM is pretty much a drop in fit. I have never had to do any fitting. I did have to remove some of the second step in the hammer when I installed SBH hammers in guns that had the thicker transfer bars to stop the pinch and allow the tranfer bar to drop. With factory springs, the trigger would return forward without filing the step, but when I installed the Bullseye springs it would not.
