Super Blackhawk Grips

I would like to get a spare set of Factory grips for my old model Super Blackhawk. I phoned Ruger and they said that they have only the new model Super Blackhawk grips. How close in fit are the two styles? Can the new grips be readily altered to fit old style frames?

The only real difference is the type of wood and the "furniture" with the Old Models mostly using black eagle medallions, blued escutcheons and blued screws and the New Models using silver....

I've swapped them around for years.
