And to celebrate mother nature is giving us some snow. The National Weather Service issued a WINTER STORM WARNING for the foothills and mountains of the Front Range from midnight until 6 p.m. Wednesday. Areas most likely to get moderate to heavy snow will be in the eastern and southeastern portions of the Denver area down into Douglas and Elbert Counties.
I wanted to head up Mt Bross yesterday but the weather was bad in the mountains. I headed out to the range this morning to try zero my hunting rig, trying to get ready for elk season. It was windy and rained a little so I didn't stay there long. I decided to make another dutch oven cobbler, this time berry (fresh raspberry, blackberry, and strawberry). Thanks sixshot.

Since I wasn't able to head out this weekend I'll instead post pictures of my drive over Mosquito Pass last weekend. Mosquito is the highest pass in the country, it goes from Alma to Leadville. There was fresh snow there last weekend.

Turquoise Lake has to be one of the prettiest lakes in Colorado. Love the pic's, it makes me miss the mountains.
That's a fact. Although there are a couple in SW Colorado that will give it a run for the money. My family used to spend time every summer at Turquoise.
Of course the weather man was wrong AGAIN. We got nothing but light rain. An article on one of the news websites says "This forecast will go down as a "swing and a miss" by the National Weather service." I think they struck out a long time ago. I swear sometimes a 5 year old can predict the weather better than some of the bozos that call themselves a meteorologist here.

Very nice. What kind of building do you think that last one is, maybe a lumber mill? Are the chutes for loading rocks or lumber into wagons?

Pretty sure it is for ore since there were lots of silver mines in the area. Looks like ore scree piles behind the structure.

yep. Either lead, gold or silver. That structure is only about 5 miles up the road from the famous Matchless mine.
