Take it how ever you want, caus I didnt take pics, I know pics are worth a thousand words, but ya can also argue about pics on the internet. I took my SR-556 out again and my best 3 3rnd groups at 100 with 55gr Rem. UMC were .573, .506, .678 MOA. Im very please and surprised especially with cheap 55gr. Im getting to really like this carbine.

That is great news. Now you need to start working on real groups like 5 rounds or better yet, 10 rounds. This is not a Mini-14, this is a real rifle.

Depends. where are you located? Just kidding, I only have match handloads anymore and they would open up the SR556 like a can of beans. Maybe.

deadduck,

The persistent showers this week (and work) have kept me from wringing-out my own SR556, but it does function just fine, and is easy to hit with at shorter ranges.

I'm hoping mine proves to be as accurate as yours. :D

Those dern expensive 556s are sure looking good....

ran some 75gr ammo though my M4 last week and actually did a 3" group with the standard iron sights which is awesome for me... I won't tell you what my $1000+ mini-14 did...Sig 685 will just say "I told you so".

To be honest, it's actually a lot of fun to read here the many great reports on the SR556. I can't help but think this was unknown here with any semiautomatic rifle from Ruger and now the environment has changed.

Of course I told you so, I have been telling you and all other Mini owners so for years; what, do you think I was lying?

I can only imagine the epiphany that many Ruger owners are experiencing now. It will be fun to hear from the diehard Mini-14 owners who will simply totally refuse to even consider an SR556, for whatever reason. The SR556 may not be perfect but it appears to be a nice rifle.

I have some Black Hills 68gr Heavy Match HP's im looking forward to running through it to see what it would produce with a heavy, but with the availability to replenish my stash im reluctant, 55gr is in good supply now.

My Ruger is in good company... but will be wearing a Nikon 2x-7x at the range.

9x19 your starting to get a good family there. What manufactures are the M4's ? One looks to be either a BM ORC or S&W OR

The BHA 68 gr Heavy Match is a fine cartridge, you could see some really nice groups out of them. I'm a 80gr whore, with 77gr for magazine length bullets, but I think the 69gr SMKs are more accurate than the 77gr.

Let us know who it works out.

The 68gr Black Hills is the most accurate factory round I have fired in my M&P-15, It should do well in the SR556.
My SR556 grouped pretty well with 10 rounds at 100 yards with ammo I loaded for my S&W. I will begin to tweak my load to find something that works in my Ruger.
24gr H335 under 60gr V-Max fired through my SR556

Both of the DI guns are Bushmaster... an ORC and M4A3... I'm just not a fan of the 20" guns.

Well, not quite as good as the groups you posted. But I have proof. :D
5 round group measured .970 at 100 yards.

Redsouth, let me ask you a question. How did you come up with .970 when the reading in the pic is .70 ?

The dial is just the last two digits... the first digit (9) is on the scale (between the jaws)... and since it is less than 1 you get 0.970" :D

OK. So a .926MOA five round group, still sub-MOA.
