Stumbled upon strange looking OM BH 41 Magnum, 7.5" barrel, https://www.invaluable.com/auction-lot/ruger-blackhawk-41mag-revolver-232-c-e944242a78 , never new about it:

Is this brass grip frame original, or somebody installed brass one from Ruger Old Army?

Anybody knows more about this revolver?

Nobody but Ruger can tell you if it left their place with brass

Yours was made in 1969

If somebody changed that grip frame they may of switched the barrel too.
Looks like a Super BH frame to me but …. I'm much better on the double action stuff.

Don't know anything about its history but I like everything about it. I was never crazy about all the short barrel models and the 7.5 barrel is a favorite. Nice revolver!

Ok,, that serial number does NOT show up as having shipped with a factory brass grip frame. (hittman,, the factory brass g/f's are the same shape as the SBH's.)

Next,, the factory didn't produce any with a 7-1/2" bbl either.

Somebody put that one together.

This info comes from the RENE and John Dougan's book.

Thanks to all. I also never heard of any OM or NM BH in 41 Magnum with 7.5" barrel, just (NM BH) Bisley. By all accounts, looks like "hybrid" using OM BH revolver, barrel from Bisley (NM) and brass grip frame from ROA or OM SBH. The only thing I would change on it would be to install OM SBH hammer. Nevertheless, nice revolver.

It could have a Ruger original brass g/f,, which by itself is worth at least $300. So,, depending upon the actual sale price,, it may well be a fair buy.

But,, w/o pulling the grips to see the g/f markings,, if it has any,, to verify it as a factory brass g/f,, I'd be very cautious.

@Onty, did you buy it? That auction was over 2 years ago. A 7.5" barrel in .41 Mag would not be something you'd find laying around unless it has New Model markings in which case it could have been off a Bisley. But the rollmarks have been polished off the left side and the whole thing looks reblued. The trigger suggests the conversion kit is installed. A lot of signs indicate it's a Bubba Gun.

No, I didn't. I prefer NM Bisley configuration. Yeah, you a right, it is probably a "Bubba Gun". But, hey, some folks like it!

well done for the most part, kinda neat, all it needs is medallions in the grips and the wide spur hammer, that was a bit above the "bubba" class, he 'boogered' them, hardly ever improved upon them..........only thing wrong to me, it is over polished.... ;):rolleyes:
