Stolen Ruger NOW RECOVERED PHOTOS ATTACHED

"My mail and deliveries come through KC, it's a crapshoot now days on anything whether of value or not. "
I've been in contact with Missouri Senator Sam Graves concerning the problems with USPS in both Kansas City and St Louis. I'm prodding and hoping for a Congressional investigation of mismanagement of those facilites.

I had a Redhawk .45LC/.45Auto "varnish" out of the box/package on its way back for repairs. Package made it the pistol did not. And I can not understand how USPS can trace a letter back to its sender but somehow can "lose" a package that's supposed to get scanned at every stop.

I would start investing in Apple Airtags. Hide one inside the original stock. Anywhere there is WiFi internet, you can track. Which is almost anywhere.
That only works for the box the airtag is in, not for the item; it wont fit inside even a redhawk. Need to reduce the size o' them thangs...or cable them to said item like some stores do.
No fingerprints on the empty box, i guess?

Have worked fedex, both dockwork and security, and some people will try to get away with stuff, there are ways if somebody isnt paying attention. And heard of other docks where it is rampant.
No need for professional appraiser. even though the Stock maker would qualify.
Cost of Ruger Hawkeye ( I Have receipt) + cost of Stock Blank ( I have the receipt) plus copy of invoice form Stock maker for his services stocking it = Full value.
I will keep you posted on outcome

Believe it or not but ATF will not take the complaint. FBI wont take complaint. Local LE agency defers to postal inspectors.

When the first rifle was stolen, UPS wouldnt do yugo so i did file criminal complaint with local PD. They took it and they caught the guy. He was areested and convicted. They recovered the first Hawkeye but no stock blank. According to the arresting officer the thief said he "got rid of it". Probably in his wood stove.
Anyway Since ups paid claim i couldn't get rifle back.

For a Redhawk, take a grip off and hollow out a quarter size area. A Hawkeye size rifle on the other hand has plenty of stock room to hide one.

Hold on just a minute, unless the postal inspector can get the firearm listed into NCIC for you. No PD or Pawn will ever know the firearm is stolen. The format for entering stolen stuff is through police reports that are reported by the owner of the property. To list a firearm there needs to be entered the serial number among other things. I would have been at my USPS office talking to the inspector and learn if it is or is not listed as stolen. Heck right now you could have any officer or PD run the serial number and find out. It might be worth it.

It sucks but it's true. As a dealer, if I have something stolen from my inventory that I have to contact ATF. But as a private citizen and you have something stolen, local law enforcement.

Personally I'm not surprised by the OP experience. Several years ago I had a pistol disappear, USPS driver claimed they had delivered it but my FFL was home and knew nobody had come to the house. I let the seller know that the pistol never arrived and after a week and much convincing he reluctantly finally filed the paperwork with ATF. At that time my FFL contacted the postal inspector who turned out to be a really great guy. He went to the PO responsible for the delivery and basically said (like a second grade teacher) I am going to close my eyes for 24 hours and if the delivery doesn't show up the 💩 will hit the fan. The unopened package mysteriously arrived about 3 hours later. This was the first of many complaints in the last several years that I have with the USPS. The latest, I ordered some screws for a tang sight before Christmas, tracking shows they were mailed (Michigan) on 1/2/25 and apparently they are still sitting there in that PO two weeks later.
Now I know that some folks on this forum have or do work for the postal service, and there's good and bad apples no matter where you work, and many say they have never had any problems whatsoever with the mail, but here in the Richmond Va area the mail service is crap. I wouldn't trust them to mail a dog turd right now. It's gotten so bad that if I HAVE to mail a check I have to pay for priority mail so that I can track it or some low life will steal it and try to hack my account or wash / edit the check. Sorry for my rant, and like Forest Gump said "That's all I've got to say about that".

Well, I was notified today that miraculously the rifle has been found and is on its way now. Funny how it literally goes missing for 32 days and all of a sudden its found.
I checked the tracking and it shpows movement. Ill see what it looks like when it arrives. more to follow when i get it.
