Just picked up a Ruger Mod.77 II in .204 Ruger. It has a fair stock but there is what appears to be a hairline crack in the stock forward of the butt and it runs with the grain to almost the pistol grip, on the cheek side. It doesn't appear deep or extend to either the butt or the pistol grip. How does one go about repairing that? My guess is it is a drying crack. But I have no idea how to repair or cover it. It is easy to overlook but you can feel it by running you hand over it.

If it was new I would ask Ruger about it but it is a used gun.

Yes, Ruger will most likely replace it for free but you'll have to cover the shipping costs to them. A small price to pay for a new stock and if I were to guess, it would be "hand-picked" with much better wood. I've experienced that with a cracked stock(not Ruger) being returned. The new stock looked MUCH better than the original with a lot of figure.
