Stock finishes

Did ruger use different finishes on their walunt stocks? I am referring to early 10/22's and 44 carbines. I have several that seem to be original finishes that range from satin oil to gloss.

I think they did to a certain degree. I have two single digit 44 Deerstalkers that have a high gloss finish and I know they are correct. The 10/22's I believe were all satin but the more you handle and polish them they become glossy. I have a 44RS that was sent to John Amber from Bill Ruger that has almost a glass finish. Here are pictures of the number 4 gun and the Amber RS.

My goodness why don't we see Rugers with wood like that anymore!!!!!

44 Carbines were always hard to find with nice wood. These two went to special friends of Bill Ruger.
