Steve McQueen in Bullitt

Help Support Ruger Forum:

My all time favorite chase scene was from a Dirty Harry movie. He is being chased by a remote control car full of explosives!

The best part of these old movies for me are the cars and trucks in the background.

Thunder Road. Written, directed and staring Robert Mitchum. He also wrote and later recorded the theme song.

Oh, and the actor that played his younger brother was Mitchum' son.
Absolutely, James Mitchum was also one of the stars of Moonrunners, another of the movies I mentioned. He was great as Grady Hagg, cousin to Bobby Lee Hagg(Kiel Martin). Add in Arthur Hunnicutt as Uncle Jesse. :)

The same driver of the charger was in seven ups a crime drama he was involved in a chase scene in that movie also not a bad chase scene
Hickman was also in The French Connection, another good chase scenes
He played the detective or agent that Hackman kills.
He was following James Dean when Dean wrecked and died. IIRC he was the first on the scene.
I liked the scene in Bullitt were McQueen loses control of the Mustang and spins out.
Hickman looks in the rear view mirror, sees what happened and smirks, as if to say "rookie!"
A Hollywood legend!

Maybe all the big car chases of the 70's mentioned, maybe. Memory is cloudy on the plot but thinking is was a getaway of some sort,,,, Dirty Mary, crazy Larry.

Peter Fonda & Susan George in a bright yellow Dodge Charger. Action, & funny as heck in the day.

Speaking of Bullet, McQueen's character wore an upside down Bianchi shoulder holster loaded with a Colt snub 38, Agent, Cobra or Detective special.
10 years later when I saw one of those holsters in a grab box at a local shop I knew I had to have it when my Ruger Speed Six fit it perfectly. It was comfortable to wear but very uncomfortable to draw from knowing the muzzle was pointed at my arm pit.

Ahhh! the doggone movie stuff.

Kind of like the appendix holster today.😁

Chief if you are carrying appendix style and it's pointed at your arm pit.....you are carrying wrong or have a very impressive anatomy causing it to point that way!:unsure::ROFLMAO:

I see that your son is also a comedic genius 😆. We have a Ring doorbell snitch also. I frequently forget that I am under surveillance every time I walk out the door.
