I'm part of the S.C. Chimney Sweep Guild (41 years) and we have an annual get together on Lake Murray just above Columbia ever September... one of the draws is what we call a Stump Shoot where we go to a fellow sweep's private range out in the woods and do some shooting... too long of a story of how it all started... for the last couple of years my friend who is a retired Marine gunnery Sgt has done the mandatory safety seminar before we go and shoot and is the chief 'hall monitor' on the range. . He is the best instructor, both guns and chimneys that I've ever had... looks like this year he won't make it. ... Heart issues and so it is going to be up to me to teach and be chief herder ..... the other guy who volunteers to be a range officer isn't coming either.... I've got two sweeps I've known for years who have volunteered but I've never worked with them on this. One is a retired fire fighter of 30 years and has participated in these shoots before and I know he is extremely disciplined..... the other used to be a range officer at a gun club before he got too deep into soot..... I think it'll work out... it is this coming Friday morning... pray for me.

Oh and we also have to supply some guns for folks to shoot... here are the handguns I'm bringing:

I think you will do well. I only have what I know about you from the forum to say this, but you seem to be one that takes responsibility and does your best to share knowledge. Your previous training also qualifies you.

Yes, I need to ask the other two guys if they are bringing a revolver or two... If not, y'all are probably right... I need to grab a few... we'll see... I've spent the last two days packing my van with the stuff I need to take... I have to set up the outside kitchen... which includes wiring lights and all the appliances... then cook breakfast on Thursday morning for the staff that has shown up early... help through out the day... then do the stump shoot on Friday morning and then Saturday afternoon set up the Saturday night fireworks display.... here is what the back of my van looked like a little while ago... these are the fireworks;

I hope it goes well. One thing about it. No one can say you don't go all in on getting things done.

Sounds like you are doing the lions share. Just the effort you put into the fireworks is staggering.

Don't let yourself be taken advantage of, start training your replacements. So you can relax and enjoy yourself too.

I'm sure you'll be fine safety wise.

The recreational island we rent has a basic metal meeting building on it... designed and built by old geezers and in the past after we set up out outside kitchen we just run a couple extension cords from various outlets outside the building... the problem is we have kind of expanded our outside kitchen needs and now we need power for a small electric water heater, a microwave (we actually sometimes run two) and at least three coffee pots...and then there are the lights and fans... So, often we trip a breaker... this year I have designed a system to not have this happen... I put together a 100 amp exterior breaker box with 4 20 amp circuits and then we are going to install a heavy duty exterior plug on a big breaker in the existing panel and plug into this.... then run our 12 and 10gage extension cords from the new temporary panel....

Anywho... you guys made me pack three revolvers. (But only one the cylinder swings out)
