I'm on one other gun forum which is in title supposed to be about my favorite handgun... but of course has other discussion and different sections.... I've been on the owner/head hall monitors watch list for a couple of years and to be honest have never figure out why. I often compliment both him and the forum for the information I have gotten off of it.

A guy (very new member) recently posted in the classifieds that he wanted to trade two 357 sig magazines for two 9mm ones for the same model pistol and he also put not only his email address in his add but his shipping / home address and phone number ... I quickly pointed out that he should take those out, his email should be in his profile only (which is only visible to members), and that I could probably do the trade with him and my email was in my profile. he responded thanks and that he did not know how to put his email in his profile... there was a snide post by the moderator about the new member's intelligence and the new member took offense and posted something back and then they both got to insulting each other and I made the mistake of posting that I thought they were both over reacting .... BOY! Who would have thought it... I could have posted that I wondered what mysterious creature came out of the swamp and crawled up the owner's mother's leg and conceived him and it would have gone over better.

I got spanked and apologized and still got spanked and apologized again... but never said I was wrong about my 'over reacting' comment which of course was just my opinion and who really cares what my opinion is... I've finally decided to put myself on double secret probation and not go back on that forum for a while ... which I suspect is getting me in more trouble. The owner it seems is pretty narcasitic. (way more than me) and really gets miffed if you don't reply to a post he directs at you... I was almost thrown off when I first joined for this because I did not immediately reply to one of these ... for the simple reason I did not log back on for a day... I suspect I'm still getting spanked over there.... I may go visit in a day or so via another computer and see how my spanking is going....

For some reason these things don't happen to me here...

If it’s the .net version of this forum, they banned me because of an ip address my vpn was using. Never replied to any of my emails, so I figure I’m not missing much if that’s the way they want to run things.
Sounds like you ran into some folks with an overinflated sense of self-importance, probably from getting too many participation trophies in grade school…

I've been spanked or outright banned from more forums than I can count going back to the days of Compuserve.

I was kicked off a cycling forum for opining that Lance Armstrong was chemically enhanced. Look how that turned out.

I was kicked off a gun forum for joking that AR-15s shouldn't be allowed in "high power rifle" matches, instead they should be in "medium to low power rifle" matches.

I was kicked off a gun forum for expressing a negative opinion of Wayne LaPierre (no criticism of NRA allowed).

A guy purporting to be a senior Army noncom showed up on a knife forum looking for donations of knives for his soldiers. I asked "doesn't the Army issue knives?" and was kicked off the forum.

I got banned recently for posting a Rhianna music video.

I got in trouble on another gun forum. Someone posted his wooden swagger stick. I pointed out it wasn’t wood, but a dried male part, probably a bulls.

They said I violated the family friendly policies. I didn’t use a vulgar term. But the medical term for that body part.

The real problem came when they deleted my post, without my knowledge. I thought I didn’t post, so I re posted. It looked like I was deliberately poking the bear I guess.

I got tired of the people there anyway. The ones I liked have all passed on.

Happened to me too. I used the acronym WTF. Not the words.
Logged back in and it was gone, didn't know why and posted it again. Spanked and spanked again.
I don't know if I was thrown off or not, I just never went back.
Just said FU under my breath.

I had to stand in the corner for 30 days in 2020 on my model car forum when a leftist posted a pic of Biden (and Jay Leno) in his Corvette with the thread title "Just a Car Guy" or something of the sort. I posted back "Owning a Corvette doesn't make one a 'car guy'" and got put on "moderation" for a month. Damned if I was gonna wait around for hours for "mommy" to approve my posts so I just walked out of the joint for 30 days and started a private email list of my board friends that I called the "Circle of Double-Secret Probation." To this day one of them has in his sig line "Proud member of the CDSP"--I smile every time I see that. ;)

Gee, I sure hope it wasn't this one (which I could watch all day long):

Don't think so. I just did it because it had the line "work, work, work, work." Don't know much about her music except that she likes umbrellas.

It's a shame people won't mention the name of forums that put members in "jail" or ban people outright for sometimes silly reasons.
I've been banned from Accurate Reloading since 2012 and they still won't let me back in. My crime? I gave my honest opinion of Barak Hussein Obama.

Another was a forum dealing with e Winchester and Remington short magnums. My crime? I opined that of one already owned a standard 300 Win. Mag ot the Weatherby version, one really didn't need one of the short mags. The response from the site owner was such that with the rage expressed with constant four letter words while banning me mad think he was one the verge of a heart attack. I don't even know if the site is even still up.

Currently, I'm having a problem with the Marlin Owners forum. My problem I do not know what I did wrong???? Who ever is moderation hasn't the guts to tell me. Banned me for 30 days the first time and am currently on six month ban. All he says is I violated their rules. The sad thing, even criminals in this country are told why they're being arrested. He, she or it won't tell me what I did wrong. I'm guessing I must have disagreed with him on something. I'm usually polite about it and can't remember if I did disagree about something. All I asked for was the common courtesy to inform me of my violation. Saying I violated the rules doesn't cut. Which rule(s)?

I'm only on two Internet forums and both are at least in title dedicated to one specific brand of gun. I realize that allows the discussion of others as it should be as well as just general discussion of other things within the family. And that is how I feel about both forums,... we are family.
The first time I remember getting in trouble on the other forum I joined with another member who complained about the language there. I mistakenly said something demeaning about a person's intelligence that has to use the 'F' word in everyone of their post. The host of that site uses that word a lot.

Next time I had a humorous post I created deleted because it was not appropriate for the membership... keep in mind these are mostly guys who cuss a lot it seems.... I made a post titled Alien Plumber's Crack and then posted the picture of Sigorney Weaver in the last scene of the movie Aliens where she is getting ready to get in her space suit to go into suspended sleep and has shows from the back her white panties and a slight crack.

Next I asked a question about why so much discussion of Glocks on this forum? Seems the host is a Glock fan ..... go figure .... for good or bad I'm not... but I did swear for years I would not own one... now I own three and am still not impressed ... the best I can say is they aren't nearly as ugly once you own one.

From then on I'm on the watch list.....

But I have learned so much about two certain model and brands of pistol on this other site it is hard to explain..... I also think I have helped a lot of other folks out there....

Some people who either own, run or otherwise have "control" over others can be very nice people. (Thanks for the many years here Carl, aka; Flatgate!)

Then there are other people who fail to accept anybody's opinion other than their own. Or if someone puts forth an honest question, yet it offends the owner,, it can cause problems. It's a "control" thing, and some people fail to understand that OTHER people can have DIFFERENT opinions, and still be good people. They let their "power" over things go to their head. Sadly,, it often costs the new people, or those needing help, good quality information w/o any prejudices. Good people get "spanked," or banned, or whatever,, and they just decide they do NOT NEED to play silly games. I know some really good, and knowledgeable people who have left other Forums, (and even some from here,) because they were not treated with respect, got banned, spanked or whatever.
