This is my original post reflecting issues I had with Ruger's SR22 pistol.

http://www.rugerforum.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=32&t=177844

Well, last night at the range, I TRIED to shoot the replacement they sent me. The first shot keyholed the target. The next three shots were okay, but after the fourth shot the trigger did not reset itself when the action cycled.

My night was done....

I don't think I want another Ruger SR22 pistol. It will go back to Ruger and I will either request a voucher for purchase of some other product or more likely ask for my money back........

What has happened to Ruger's quality???

Dave

Dave,

Bummer!

I've owned two, now own none... to me, they are for Ruger, what the P22 is for Walther (substandard to the rest of that brand's products).

I am beginning to think that way...... Anyway, just got off the phone with a nice lady from Ruger and she said to send it in and they would fix it. She speculated it being the mag disconnect. I did express my displeasure to the extent that she knew I wasn't a happy camper. I will give them one more try...... Dave

Sorry to hear. Would show you my latest 10 shot grouping but it wouldn't make you feel any better. Hope the third time is a charm.

Sorry to hear, however from a longtime satisfied Ruger owner, including my SR22, I'd send that bad boy down the road now in whatever minimizes your financial loss [absent passing it off to an unsuspecting buyer].

Have a hunting partner that had a serious leading problem with his SR22 resulting in keyholing but he had shoved approximately 500 rounds of Thunderbolt through it while working a Ladies Day event at our club. He had a tough time cleaning it up...Thunderbolt is not in his vocabulary..the club had supplied the ammunition. His is still running trouble-free as far as I know.

I feel confident that Ruger would eventually make you happy or maybe less angry but they had two(2) shots - OEM QC and subsequent service.

Best.

And I was there!

What a heart breaker to have a new gun, and then its replacement, have such severe issues.

All the while we fiddled with the first one, and then the failure of the second one, I was shooting my own SR22. There is nothing I can do to make mine malfunction, even with crap ammo. It's even surprisingly accurate, given what it is.

Tell ya what...If I had two in a row like Dave's, I would give up on the SR22. Even makes me wonder if mine is gonna break.

WAYNO.

Yes, WAYNO was there. He sensed my frustration, but merrily shot the dickens out of HIS SR22. His shoots flawlessly and that's why I will give Ruger one more chance to figure it out. I really hope they do....

Just my opinion. I would not own any 22 slide action, no mater who the manufacturer is. I own two Ruger 22's, both mark series, a standard and a MK3. Both always run flawlwessly. Whenever I see people shooting slide 22's at the range, they have problems. If you get one thats doesn't, it's luck. The bolt action is much more suitable to the 22, low power cartridge. Center fire is fine for a slide action, but I don't think it it is ideal for the 22.

So, the third time really is the charm?

Maybe I'll have to buy one more and see....

update...News Flash!

Let me beat Heliman to this revelation! His curse is over! His SR22 works great now!

Dave is a happy boy.

Gotta love these plastic guns.

WAYNO.

WAYNO is right....... the SR22 worked great. I shot a little over 100 rounds tonight with just one failure to feed, no key holing, no weird accuracy issues, and no mechanical issues. While it doesn't shoot as well as a Mark series, it is okay.

I am still NOT a plastic fan, but this one did work finally on the third time........ :) Ruger finally got it right.

We shall see how it performs as time goes by.... Dave
