SR 556 Collapsible Stock

OK, before all my friends start giving a single shot guy grief over having one of the new bang whiz toys, I will clarify that it is for my son.
We just got it yesterday and the spring in the lever that is supposed to allow the stock to adjust to any of the 6 positions just does not seem to be there.
It just rattles around and does not release anything!
Any of you other experts have any experience with a problem like this??

It does sound like a broken or missing spring... Call Ruger, they'll probably send you one.

you should still be able to adjust the stock. Can you remove the stock ?
