I see Ruger has on their website and SR-22...22 LR version of the SR-556. Should be a pretty cool rifle. Wish I would have know they were coming out with one and I wouldn't have bought a Colt. Oh well!

The SR-22 isn't really a .22LR version of the SR-556; it's a 10/22 with SR-556ish receiver, fore end, etc. It doesn't have the AR BCG, but the 10/22 action and rotary magazine.

Yep... it's a factory-built Nordic conversion... I like it, but that may be because I've already built my own version!

Right, another silly AR wannabe. You could build a real .22 AR for what it costs. None for me, thanks.

MSRP $625...no iron sights. Seems a little much to me. But if you really need a 10/22 that makes you look like you fast roped out of a helicopter on the way to the gun club, it may be the way to go. As an AR trainer it seems no better/worse than any other 10/22.

It'll also be a lot more reliable than most of the .22 ARs out there...
My DPMS runs 100%. Will this thing run, say, 110%? 120%?

Well, one questions is what does a suggested retail price of $625 relate to in the real world say in 6 months when everybody has calmed down... $500 maybe $450 I'm hoping.

Jeff that's some hellatious shooting for a off the rack Ruger 22!

I'm not sure about the barrel guard/ grip, it looks a little flimsy to me being open on the front... what say you?

Not Jeff but the Nordic kits use standard AR free-float tubes so it should be fine.

I am really disapointed myself. Instead of this, why couldn't Ruger have sat down with the CMC machine and made a new receiver that would have basically been this outer profile that could have used off the shelf 10/22 parts like the bolt, charging handle, barrel, etc. and gave that this designation?

Instead, they use a kit gun....

This should be called the SR/1022... Field stripping and cleaning this is a bit of a PITA and I know as I do have one of the Nordic kits. I like the kit, I am just really disapointed that Ruger did this as opposed to really comming up with a new 22lr.

I love AR-15s. I love 10/22s. This is a dissapointment over what they could have done.

It is a standard AR free-float handguard, and not flimsy at all. It has a wall thickness of 1/8 inch (.125).

I have previously knocked the looks of this SR-22. Well, I saw and played with 3 of them today at a local gun show and I NOW have to say that they are very well made, solid and hanle very well. So I change my mind and an A1 to Ruger.
