SR-22 trigger issue?

I picked up my new SR-22 the other day. I took it out of the box, and the trigger was back against the grip. I worked the slide to reset it and it did not move. I looked at it closer and it was free-floating front to back. It seemed like something was unattached. I called Ruger and they said to send it back for repair. Has anyone else experienced this?

Is the magazine in the gun? If not the trigger will move back and forth freely.

I tried to reset the trigger with and without the magazine, loaded and unloaded. It made no difference.
