One more rifle from the guy who is selling his dad's guns. The info I can find online about the Marlin 980-DL is that DL stood for the Deluxe model with a checkered walnut stock. They were made from 1962-1970. Reportedly there were 33K made, I don't know the percentage of those that were DL. And I'm not sure if they were all .22 WMR like this one. It is uncommon enough that there is no entry for it in the blue book. The pre-1968 examples have no serial number, which is the case with this one. Online info also says this was Marlin's last bolt action with a .24" barrel. This one has no iron sights, the rear sight dovetail has a filler in it and there are filler screws up front. It has a period Weaver V22 3X-6X variable scope in Weaver rings. One detachable magazine and a leather sling round out the package. A handsome rifle in excellent used condition with a few signs of light field use.
