I purchased this as a NOS (new old stock) item, and added a new stock reinforcement w/ screws and washers, and stainless forend liner/cap assembly. I put it all together, and decided that it's much too nice to use as a truck rifle. I've decided to sell the stock, and switch back to my old synthetic stock.
The stock locks into the fixed position very securely and tight.
My 196 series rifle fits into the stock very nice and tight. When disassembling the rifle, you actually need to pull the receiver out of the stock. That's how tight it is. It is not a loose and sloppy fit.
Some minor scratches here and there, but otherwise it's in excellent shape.
The stock was made by Federal Ordnance sometime in the 1980's. They went out of business in 1994. This is considered a "pre-ban" stock.
