I decided I wanted a 9mm revolver and have been looking for a SP101. Ran across a Speed Six and of course there's the Blackhawk .357mag/9mm convertible.

If I was going to overpay for a SP101 or Speed Six, which would be the recommended buy. Overpay for SP101 (with box) = $720 + shipping + FFL fee or overpay for Speed Six (no box) = $750 + shipping + FFL fee.

Ridiculous prices I think but I just can't find a Ruger 9mm revolver in LNIB condition anywhere.

Pros/cons appreciated.

Thanks[/u]

I've owned both.

If you have long fingers, the Speed Six is the better choice.

If you ever intend to ankle carry, the 2-1/4" SP101 is the obvious choice.

If you intend to just target shoot, the 3-1/16" SP101 has the longer sight radius.

If you intend to use it for defensive purposes, the SP101 can easily be fitted with a tritium night sight. The Speed Six would need to have one custom made.

Speed Six! I have a pair of them - great revolvers. If you can find one, you will not be disappointed.
