I'm thinking of getting Hogue grips for my SP101 -- with the factory grips and full-load .357's, the recoil is a bear. I saw a comment where someone talked about the lack of "storage" for the takedown pin in the Hogue grips. I'm sorry if this is a stupid question, but what would be the function of this takedown pin (i see where it's stored in the factory setup)?
Thanks for any help on this.

It captures the hammer spring so the hammer strut can be removed for disassembly. A paper clip, finish nail, or anything else small enough to fit in the hole of the hammer strut can be used instead, just in case you lose that little pin.
