I found this nice old Lawrence holster for my Old Model Blackhawk. I just got it today so I have not had a chance to clean it up. The Blackhawk fits just right and it will make a nice trail and hunting holster.

Looks like the Hunter 110 series that's still made. I'd like one for my FT BH for field use. stevemb

Just let me tell you that Lawrence and Hunter are two entirely different quality leather goods!! Those old Lawrence holsters were specifically made for the model of handgun that the number, or identification, stamped on the back indicates. They fit like a glove! Hunters were more generic. For those that don't know the Ruger code numbers, find an old Shooters Bible from the 60's and the codes are in there. Prior to the 3 digit number codes, a system was used by Lawrence that is fairly easy to figure out-like RSS for the 5 1/2" Single Six. By 1959-60, Ruger had added so many barrel lengths that the 3 digit number codes came into use. I have had a lot of Lawrence rigs for Rugers over the years. eBay is the best source, but you need to know the codes, as most Sellers don't know what they are made for. My favorite was the 120, or Keith model!

I once had a Ruger display at Tulsa titled "Packing Iron at Ruger Ranch" that was all Single Actions in Lawrence rigs. The Revolvers all had stag grips(one ivory slipped in). Steve Ruger might of had a pic of it; if he still does, would appreciate seeing it again.

The later Lawrence holsters came in a box. On the back of the box is a Holster Size Chart with a list of the 3-digit code numbers for the holster and the model(s) of the firearm that it fits. It also has a list of letter codes for custom features such as basket stamp, flower stamp, lacing, sight protector, etc. The list on the back of the box can be photcopied and kept available for reference when searching for Lawrence holsters on E-Bay.
