357 Max specifically. I was thinking of trying some 180 gr. SSP bullets in the maxi. Would the bullet need to be seated too deep and limit capacity? Any other problems with the idea?
If you are talking about using a pointed jacketed bullet in the maxi,, it'll shoot,, but due to bullet seating depth,, you need to reduce your load. A soft pointed flat nose is fine.
I should have worded my question a little better but yes , I am asking about pointed soft point bullets like the 180 gr. SSP's from Hornady. I would not be looking for a hotrod load but thought there is a chance that load may be accurate?
I know they work well in 357 Max Contenders because I have a friend that shoots them and they are awesome in the TC. But the TC isn't limited by the length of a cylinder. The seating depth was one issue I was thinking of. I think I am going to try it and see how it works out. If it doesn't , I have other 35 Cal. rifles I can use the bullets in for some light loads for plinking.
