I was at a gun show and was trading for a Single Six I wanted. The Blackhawk I got as well was kind of an afterthought. Anyway, I'm not quite sure what to do with it. It has a 7.5" barrel which is longer than I want to carry. The finish isn't that great.

I was thinking having the barrel cut and maybe have it crome or nickel plated. I was wondering if the good members of this forum would have any suggestions on who to have do the work. I would like to have it done by next summer, so I can carry it during the month I will be spending in the CO high country.

Thanks in advance.

I have two New Model .45 cal. Blackhawks in my "shooter" category. Both have 7-1/2" barrels and both shoot wonderfully well. I did open the throats of the cylinders a bit and have swapped on "heavier" grip frames so shooting 300+ grain bullets is "fun"!

In a hunting or "woods protection" situation I'll put my money on these two guns over and above any other Ruger in the stash.

Here's the stainless example..
