Not living in a free American state at this time but soon will be. haven't seen this on the news that I can recall. I was wondering, does it ever happen that someone carrying open has a scumbag come up behind them and baseball bat or shoot them in the head to get the weapon? With todays criminals it doesn't seem like such a crazy notion.

Extremely rare for that to happen, but other than cops getting into close encounters and having their gat taken away, I suspect that it would be more likely to happen if someone just wasn't paying attention to their surroundings. Failing to exercise situational awareness would contribute to the potential for loss. Don't rely on some strap or mechanical device on a holster to prevent a snatch.

Observe your cat. It is difficult to surprise him. Why? Naturally his superior hearing is part of the answer, but not all of it. He moves well, using his senses fully. He is not preoccupied with irrelevancies. He's not thinking about his job or his image or his income tax. He is putting first things first, principally his physical security. Do likewise. Jeff Cooper.

PS: That includes when you're standing at a urinal in Walmart or other location. Use your ears, reflective surfaces, etc. Which hand do you use for your other gun? ;)
