I have an unmodified single-six type one flatgate #239 SN 4#### all blued that I want to sell. Can someone give me an approximate price range? It shoots well, has only a few scratches and fades, and is in very good condition, but has no case or papers. Sorry, can't seem to upload my pics.

Lo65,

Welcome to the RF. Try this link for posting pictures; http://www.rugerforum.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=51390

First please explain "flatgate #239 SN 4####" Which is serial number 239 or 4xxxx? From title seems serial number is 239 but then what is 4xxxx?

Thanks.

welcome to the Forum, and as sitcom noted, just what is the guns serial number?? you give two sets of numbers and there is a BIG difference from a 3 digit gun, and a 5 digit gun.....and of course condition follows

The style number is 239, the serial number is 49###. Here are the pics.

Lo65! Welcome to the forum! It looks as if your Flatgate is a 4th type instead of a first type. The type 1 Flatgate has a non-serrated front sight blade and all of the others have serrated front sights. Also on the 1st type, the Single and the Six that is stamped on the side of the frame will not have a hypen between the Single and the Six. All of the other types will be stamped with a hyphen such as "Single-Six". The Type 1, and type 2 will have a short throw ejector rod housing and the type 3 and the type 4 will have the long throw ejector rod housing. Also the type,1,2,3 will have the small serrated ejector rod button and the type 4 will have the large dimpled ejector rod button.

Your gun appears to have type 4 parts. RENE list your gun at $630 if it falls between 95 to 98 percent. As your gun doesn't appear to be in that good of shape then some decrease in value will occur. That will be determined by how bad someone wants it and how bad you want to sell it.

Welcome to the Forum!
Well, we have to correct info on which variation of Flatgate it is. And it's condition isn't quite as good as us collectors like to find. That said, I'd place a value closer to $500 on that gun.

Thank you everyone for your help! I have edited the subject to reflect the info you have given me, but will leave this up for now.

The serial number is also somewhat early for a Type 4 (with large round ejector button), but is possible if the serial number in question was a late ship.
