Can some one tell me about the single six's with a square back trigger guard? When were they made? Were they made or is it a custom job? How rare are they? Any extra value?
Thanks!

Don't believe there were ever any Single-Sixes from the factory with square-back trigger guards.

The Super Blackhawk (square back) trigger guard will bolt right onto a Single-Six, however. So will the scarce brass version of the same thing.

With a little ingenuity, you can even put a New Model grip frame onto an Old Model gun.

As mentioned,, it's an easy swap for grip frames usually. So,, most likely someone with larger hands wanted a bigger grip on that Single-Six.

The gun that made me ask is a 9 ½ inch early model on Gunbroker. It is in the featured area towards the bottom, it has pearl grips.
