Hello,

I just got a used Single Six that was on consignment. I went to the Ruger website to check the Serial # and wanted to see if I was reading it correctly...

It's "6202XXX"... Does this mean the production year is 1973?

If so, that means it's a first year New Model, correct?

Thanks in advance!

Welcome to the Forum!
Judging from the number you posted,, a seven digit one, 62-02XXX should have been shipped in 1973. So, yes, it's a first year of the NM Single-Six's produced.

308longdistance,

Unfortunately, it only had one cylinder - the 22LR. I'm thinking about sending it back to Ruger and getting the 22Mag cylinder fit to it...

I wanted to make sure I was reading the Production Year right because it looks brand new! I couldn't believe it was 37 years old!

With that nice a gun, you may try to find a mag cylinder with flutes to make it correct. They can be found and most will just drop right in.
