First off I have to say I'm not a gunsmith.. however I like to think I'm
pretty handy and can usually figure out a problem when it presents
itself... however
I have a SSM-5 that I finally took apart to inspect and improve
the action. This one, bought used, had the bottom grip frame screws
setting flush to proud of the grip frame and when taken apart I found
the holes in the reciever were not tapped clean/deep enough. So I cleaned
up the holes with a tap. Also noticed a lot of flash on the inside of the
receiver .. hammer pivot hole was real bad .. cleaned that all up too.
Now I get it back together and find the hammer pivot will push all the way
out .. its not getting captured by the long grip frame screw. Take it down
again and find that the grip frame reciever hole misses the hammer pivot
hole ..?? The grip hole appears to be at a 90° angle to the base of the
receiver and the hammer pivot hole appears to be 90° to side face of
the receiver.
Anybody ever see this ? Any thoughts ?
