I stupidly sold my Single Six revolvers awhile back and am going to buy another one.

I know they come with fixed sights or adjustable sights and was wondering what applications were used for what sights? I'm just going to shoot mine at the range/plinking so do I need to spend the extra money on adjustable sights or are the fixed just fine? Are fixed more desireable than adjustable (now I know that must be a stupid question but the guns do "look" different with the adjustable sights).

I am going to buy a Single Six with a 4 5/8" barrel and have three choice: (1) SS with adjustable sights (Lipseys), (2) blued with adjustable sights or (3) blued with fixed sights.

There is $100+ price difference between the SS and the blued models.

Some of you will suggest I get all three....ha ha ha but right now I can only afford one.

Thanks

Personal preference, but I'd go with stainless and adjustable sights. The stainless is way more durable. I also like to set the sights to point of aim.

Well I decided to go ahead and buy the SS 4 5/8. Just sent in my dealer's FFL and will mail the money order tomorrow.

I really like the looks of the blued guns so I'll probably pick up one of those locally however I'm also thinking about a Blackhawk 357mag/9mm convertible so I'm undecided right now.

Thanks for your comments.

Here's my Lipsey's.

The two Lipsey's I stupidly sold awhile back (when they were readily available) I purchased for $449 + tax locally.

This week I checked with three dealers and none of them could get one now from Lipsey. They are on the Lipsey website but when the dealers contacted them they did not have any. No word on when they would have more (if ever).

So I overpaid for on from a dealer on GunBroker......NIB $495 + $25 shipping to my FFL. I have to pay my FFL $15 so that's a total of $535. That's $49 more than I paid for my last ones but that's what I get for selling them!!!

The GunBroker dealer sold two of them in the past two weeks. I didn't ask him if he had any more because I would have then purchased a second one probably........and I really am thinking about the 4 5/8 Blackhawk convertible in .357mag/9mm so I need to wait until I decide on the Blackhawk. My hesitation on the Blackhawk is that I will NOT be shooting .357 mag ever, it's just that I want a 9mm revolver....and I'd prefer a Ruger. Might even want a longer barreled single six as my next revolver, I just don't know.

sharpblade7777 - where did you get those beautiful grips? I'd like to get some different ones for my single six and those are just gorgeous.

Hmmm.....that's why I liked them. I have some micarta grips for a 1911 and just love them.

When you say "a little thick" are you saying they are thicker than the wood grips that come on the gun?

Guess I'd better go to the next gunshow and look at the grips in person so that I don't order some and then have to ship them back.

Thanks for the info.

I believe they are thicker than the original grips. I can't compare because I sold the original ones on this forum. They are also very slick. But I do think they look good are should be almost indestructable. I think I got them from Midwayusa.com.

 Oh, didn't mean to imply the GUN was ugly, sorry. What I meant was that putting all those stupid warnings on the gun is an ugly thing to do to a gun!!!

Mine came in a few days ago but I couldn't get by to pick it up until this afternoon. Here's a quick shot of it. There's two very slight imperfections on the underside of the trigger guard (maybe someone handled it that had a ring on and it made 2 very smalls cuts in the metal). I HATE that but I'm going to shoot this gun so I'll have to just ignore the mars.

It had a fired cartridge dated 10/24/08 and it has the warning statements on the underside of the barrel. Wonder why they are in two different places.

I'd like some black/charcoal grips so I'll start looking at the gunshows. I'd like them to have the Ruger logo but probably can't find any black ones that do.

The latest model Rugers are now having the "billboard" on the bottom of the barrel. I'd like to not have it at all, but under the barrel sure beats being on the side.

Black grips? They're nice, but nothing says elegance, culture, and pimp, like faux pearl!

WAYNO.

Well maybe I need two of the Lipsey's, one with black grips and one with Pearl grips........pimp is good

Wayno, I'm jealous. Nice pair there. I haven't seen the single six with pimp grips. Better get your self a pair. :D

Actually, I had some pearl grips, with the Ruger emblem. Somebody on this forum posted an ad, desperately wanting some pimp-grips with the emblem, so I sold them to him. Now, I've got another pair, without the emblem, but now that I've got a chance for a photo-op with them, and I can't find them.

WAYNO.
