Sin has its price.............

Help Support Ruger Forum:

At 76 I have tried to lead a good, useful and honorable life. There are a few folks whom I know and love, and I value their opinion of me highly.
As for the rest of the planet,
I
Do
Not
Care.
Oh, and if you do happen to find me to appear sinful...well then..
Be sure to tell your friends!
Nothing wrong with a man who is careful with people, they are called discerning.

I will try to explain my position, my take on all things. I have a ministry at my church, this for near twenty years now, to young children aged twelve and under. These children sort of look up to me, or at least so I think. So I hold myself to certain standards as an example to them, as well as to their parents. So I will do nothing to compromise those standards, or the appearance of compromising them.

I do care what others think of me, as that is my testimony whether I ever share the Gospel with them or not. I represent the Lord Jesus Christ while I live. That's my stand.

I must say I am a little surprised at some of the comments. I get the "Why not?" crowd except I see the "I live in condition yellow, or red" contingent not thinking about the unwarranted attack or legal action that could come of it. Just seems like another case of situational awareness.

Who knows what could have happened?
She gets mad at the rejection and starts a rumor in anger.
She grabs the driver and gives him a warm thank you kiss and the neighbor sees it.
She grabs the driver and gives him a warm thank you kiss and the little brain wakes up...
She needs help into the house and either of the above two scenarios happen.
Her boyfiend, husband, ex, sees or hears about it and decides he is going to win her back, but you are now in the way and in his sights.
The driver is in just the right mood (mad, depressed, feeling neglected) and the big, little, or both brains kick in
Someone sees them and while it is perfectly platonic they start a rumor for whatever reason.
In this day of me too, maybe someone is looking to cash in.

Good call Bob.

I do "get it". I worked in schools, opportunity to be alone with lots of women. Simply, I do not trust them and they should not trust me - we are both humans. Why is it that sex is what is usually thought of but simply saying the wrong thing can be sexual harassment.

To me the biggest issue is to avoid even the "appearance" of anything wrong. That means I don't close the doors with woman in my office.

I think I'm the one that started the 'discussion' and in someways regret it. But I will point out the way Bob originally wrote the event it could be interpreted that if he had been the one to give the ride to the women he would have had the afair with her.... Now with that said, I have been on this forum for a number of years and read Bob's post and am positive that this would not have been the case..... it's just one way a newbie might have looked at it. Then Bob came back and clarified that it was about the way it could have 'looked' and he's even had to say that twice... in my last post as I wrote, I realized I have in the past put myself in the same position and was not worried about what folks thought of me... this was actually spending time with a woman friend in her hotel room doing nothing but talking.... the problem was some folks saw us go in together and me leave an hour or so later and they began to talk about it and this caused the woman harm and it needed to be straightened out, which should not have had to happen. Sometimes discretion is the better part of valor.

Good man. That's our purpose.

Seriously.....an ex-Marine aviator....does the site have a crayon font?:devilish:

How about, don't have sex with your co workers.
Wow, thanks for the edifying remark.
When I was in the Corps we talked mostly about killing bad guys, I got pretty good at it, even got medals for being a good combat Marine.
And you know what, I never thought once about having sex with a co-worker. I don't even remember the subject discussed.

I mustanged up through the ranks
and don't remember your slogan being discussed, enlisted or commissioned.

All my years at college and med school I don't recall your slogan being discussed.

I'd ask my Naval Aviator buddies
what your slogan means, but they're all gone now. I'll have to ask the neighborhood teenagers what it means. Also, I'll ask the children what 'crayon font' means.

When I find out would you like me to verify the veracity with you?

When the Navy started getting the 18 to 22 year old
ladies in abundance, I saw a bunch of careers go down the drain.

We lost two command master chiefs one on each coast within the first year to them dating 18 year olds.

First class of ladies H-60 technicians all got pregnant by senior staff members.

And me, the ladies hated because I had daughters and treated them just like my girls. If one said she couldn't do the job, no problem I will find you a buddy.

The only bad thing I ever did to lady sailors was ask them to wear more perfume, because Florida mosquitoes love perfume. Those girls would come in from the flight line with bites all over and never caught on.

But, I didn't discriminate because I always came to work with bananas for the guy's, if you visit Florida eat a Banana then go for a walk at dust. Every Mosquito within miles will find you. ;)

Based on your reply, I need to apologize to you.
It was an apparently poor attempt at humor that my written words failed with, so again, sorry to have offended you.

When I was a teenager this maybe hard to believe, but I was not the sharpest tack in the box. So, when the Gunny Sargent instructor at the H-46 school on New River told me "if your addressing the Lady Marine gate guards call them BAM's and you will not have any problems".

Those ladies were definitely not happy with my Sailor *** later that week, but they did call me some names I never heard before and they were impressive. ;)

Sounds like the Gunny Sargent was playing a practical joke on you, like in the old days when they'd send new troops off to get ten gallons of "prop wash," or whatever. ;)
