I just won a NIB Ruger MKIII KMK512 on GB and it is in a black plastic box not a gray or green ? The gun has nice wooden thumb rest grips on it instead of black plastic. I do not have the gun yet so I don't have the serial number yet to check it that way . I was just wondering if any of you had some thoughts on this.
I did see a Talo model KMKIII 512 on GB with the same wood grips ? Could it be a Talo ?

In general,, yes,, some models were "Special Editions" & shipped in black boxes. Until you get it in hand, and look at the model information,, you may not be able to discover if it is one like that or not.

Thanks guys ! I was just curious about different color box and wood grips on a NIB MKIII KMK 512 . I have owned three of them and wondered why this one is different. Like you said have to wait till I get gun in hand to check the serial number and model number .

I did get the serial number , Serial number is RIO-012xx. so that would make it a Talo ?

Here's what I got at a cheaper price

Yes, that is a special distributor model for the Rio De Janeiro/Brazil Olympics a few years back.
