Just got my dream revolver back from Ruger for repairs yesterday but then today I noticed this...Should I send it back or can I "fix it" myself?

The main goal I have for this revolver is accurate target shooting. I can't help but imagine this might hinder my goals. 😩

Is the sight base loose or tight in the slot?

If tight,, without any play, I'd leave it alone.

If loose or has any play,, I'd likely just add a hidden shim to it if it were mine.

And since you mentioned accurate target shooting,, you need to swap out the front sight & add a special rear insert. Check out Fermin Garza's front sights, and the "Garza/Wells" rear inserts on RW Grip frames site.

Look closely at the RW/Garza rear insert.
You remove just the factory blade,, and add the new insert. The sight picture is much better, as they have several options. I handgun hunt with my .357 Maxi using these sights. Open sights and easily took a deer at 55 yds with them.
You still have the Ruger base & adjustment assy. All you replace is the insert.

Look at the post recently about the .357 Maxi. And I have a picture of a deer. If you can blow up the picture,, you can see the sights.

I found a picture of a pair of different rear inserts along with a g/f by Ronnie. The insert actually goes into the slot, AND comes over the top of the base. The angle, and the anti-reflecting cuts help a lot.

I might look into that. I wish they had something showing it installed vs factory. It says there was a video but I don't see it.

I took the rear sight out and it seems either the pin is bent or the rear sight isn't drilled straight. I slightly bent the pin and it is better now but not correct. I will call Ruger tomorrow, again...

My Micro sight doesn't fill the milled slot either but it's straight and solid. I think calling Ruger was a good idea.

Several posts have been popping up lately about quality control from Ruger.....In the past 2 years I've purchased a few used Ruger's with no issues and two new GP100s, one new Blackhawk, one new MKIV with no issues. I'm starting feel fortunate...

This is why you need a Garza/Wells rear sight…
They are available for the flat top also.

I will venture a guess that the replacement sight might fit the same. My thinking is the hole in the sight blade is slightly oversize compared to the roll pin. You could remove the sight and on the backside peen 4 small divots that displace just enough material to make 4 bumps, one at each "corner", this would center the sight body in the oversize top strap groove. Just a thought.
