So I saw this in the Gallery post on guns and knives:

Can anyone tell me which model this is? They don't seem to catalogue it anymore, the closest would be a hunter model with 4.5" bull barrel apparently. I kind of want one of these, and I'm not sure how rare they are.

This is the MKII, M4 model, 4" bbl. They also made the 22/45 4" bbl as the P4. I bought an M4 in '06'. I don't know when the M4 discontinued them. It's still available in 4" in the 22/45 model.

I have the 4" 22/45 MKII. I saw one of these MKII's in a store 2 years ago and am still kicking myself for not going ahead and getting it because it had very nice wood on the grips.

Yes it was a Lipsey's special. I forgot that. It didn't come in the typical green special box. At least mine didn't. And it has the walnut target grips with the right hand thumb rest. The Model was actually MK-4B.
Thanks for the reminder.

Correction to my last post, correcting myself.
While doing some cleaning, I found a 1999 Ruger catalog and the MK-4B is a listed item, not a Lipsey's. It is a 4" bbl. I did see on another site that Lipsey did have one and my guess it would have beenafter 1999. It's not in the 2001 catalog and I don't have the 2000. The grips in the pic. you posted are not the grips offered in the '99' catalog. They were laminated hardwood with thumbrest (rh).

This is the MK-4B, 1996-1999.[/img]

Is it a post '99'? And I see yours has a gold trigger also. Good looking gun.

I thought they had an MKIII with a short barrel like that now. Seems I remember a discussion about it because it is named a 'HUNTER' which seems a little off the mark.

I think they are good looking pistols.

They have one listed in their dealer exclusive section, MKIII45H-TA , Altamont Rosewood grips w/finger groves, & 4" bbl. There are 2 Hunter models, SS, 4.5" bbl.s. One has Cocobolo grips & one has Crimson Trace laser. Both have a hi-viz front sight. Found them in their online catalog.
