That's a nice early one, has some collector value being a highback in the 150 prefix.Ok, I picked it up and I like it. It does say "Police" on it. No warning on the barrel. Ser# 150-969xx. I'll try and look up the year of manufacture.
To be honest I wouldn't be surprised if there were a few low back Police Service Sixes out there somewhere. I have low back stainless Security Six with a 151 sn so there was definitely some cross pollination during that time frame. I'm not saying they're out there for sure, just that I wouldn't be shocked by it.It won't be a lowback if it is marked as Police Service Six. The lowback square butt fixed sight guns were marked as Security Six. The change to Police Service Six appears to have happened at the same point that they introduced the highback frame (which was actually in the upper end of the 150 prefix guns, along in the 150-9xxxx range - my earliest of that type is 150-94xxx).
Another thing, if it is only marked as Serice Six (without "Police"), then it is a fairly rare example.
Yeah it's kind of a never say never situation, I really went down the rabbit hole when I bought rubber grips that said "for sn 151 and up" and they didn't fit.I once had a HIGH back 150-97xxx FOUR inch Speed Six.
Yeah, there was a bunch of "cross over" between grip frames and serials right at the end of 150-.
