I just received a NM Blackhawk in .45 with a SN 46-00765, I checked the Ruger Website serial number and it is before what they are saying is the first of the series. Also it has the recessed chambers. It may not add to its value but it is a somewhat interesting gun. Any Thoughts on the low for the series SN?
Thanks, James

James,

It appears you have an early 3-digit NM 45 Blackhawk. The numbering started at 46-00000. Most of the early NMs had the recessed cylinders as they were using up OM parts.

Neat gun. Congrats on a great find!

If you are going by the Ruger web site for SN history, you should be aware that the starting dates per year neglect the prefix change from 45 (OM) to 46 (NM) in 1973. The early NM .45's were shipped in 1973. They had OM counterbored cylinders, OM blue screw glossy eagle grips, and OM two-piece boxes with NM labels pasted over the end.

Gosh darned WMG!

I can't call or raise on that hand.

The man has everything! And... I appreciate seeing it.
