I recently snagged an older 4" Security Six, which had damaged plastic grips. I wasn't too concerned about the grips, as I had a couple extra factory Ruger sets at home. Come to find out, I have "newer" style grips...which won't fit the older 150 series revolvers (mine is SN 150-31***). I *believe* this one is a low back model, which grips will I need?

Yep, you need the Low Back grips. Not hard to find. Maybe put an ad in Classifieds.

I would prefer a 1-pc rubber grip like the Hogue mono, any options for the 150 series?

I bought a set of these target stocks for my old Ruger Security Six revolver (150-serial prefix). They are a perfect fit and look and feel great, though they are a little pricey. If you don't mind aftermarket, these are real good.

What's that long gun in the background?
May be an AK47 - I see a mag for one.

You may be out of luck.
The first year Ruger Security Six (Serial numbers 150-00001 to 150-35382) had a completely different grip then the rest of the production lines. I had a first year (1972) and a second year (1973) Security Six that had different grips entirely. Two of my friends also have/had first year security sixes and we all had the same problem with finding grips. We resorted to carving our own.

Best regards,

For larger grips for the low back Six series, check the various on line selling places for grips made by Herrett and Jay Scott. For standard size grips, you really have to look hard but they can be found. You might even find some on Gunbroker or eBay.

The grips in your picture look like Jay Scott's to me, they made a lot of different "look" grips for the 150- series back in the day.
