"Flattop44",
My point of showing the photos was not to get into a discussion of the incident so much as to show the success of the Ruger double action Six series. They achieved world wide sales and are robust enough to still be in service 20 years after they were made. The Indian Rugers were made in 1987. Some visitors to this forum may be unaware that Ruger supplied several thousand Police Service Sixes to the Indian government in the special chambering of .380rim (.38 S&W).
I won't disagree about "under-gunned" - a revolver is a poor match to any rifle, much less an AK47. However, some of the first beat cops on the scene were carrying full battle rifles, SMILE in .303. They seemed unable or unwilling to use them. There was some suggestion that they had no ammo in the rifles. I would suggest that the SMILE is a decent (but maybe not the best) match for an AK47, assuming some tactics are employed.
