I always check screws on my guns after shooting and cleaning. My Mark III has had problems with the front sight screw and the three screws holding the scope mounting rail becoming loose after a range session, even though initially tightly screwed down.

I have now used blue Loctite on all the problem screws but have not had a chance to test it out yet. Is this a good solution? Is there a better solution?

Excellent solution.

It helps if lubricants etc. are removed with a non-petroleum based product prior to.

Lacquer thinner, acetone etc.

Meant to add yesterday, you don't need to apply LocTite every time you disassemble.

It'll still hold after at least 3-4 disassembly/assembly cycles.

I used blue loctite on the front sight screw, rail screws and adjusting screws on my VQ triggers. I haven't redone those in at least 3 years on the Hunter. I don't remove or adjust those parts.

Ruger really ought to fix that problem. However, I think the problem resulted in my getting a pretty good deal on a used MKII 22/45. Didn't look like it had been fired much. First trip to the range and the front sight loosened up. I bet the previous owner cussed the lack of accuracy or having to frequently tighten the sight screw from day one until he sold it.
