screw size?

Does anyone know the size screw size for the scope base on a 22/45 MKIII HUNTER? I lost one :? . It's not a 6/32 or 3.5mm.

I took one out of my Mk III and it sure looks like a 6/32 but then when I try and screw it into a 6/32 thread it stops after about one turn... so I think the threads are different... I'd call Ruger.

Most scope base screw threads are 6x48 tpi....and thats what we always drill them for ourselves...I have seen some front sight screws for Rugers are 6x40.................

Scope base screws are usually 6-48 or 8-40. Your local home Depot won't have them but any gun shop should.

After my local gunsmith gave me a 6-40 and it was wrong :? I called Ruger.
turns out to be a 6-48.
