By way of preamble I am a cyber neandrathal.

I have several several hunting/fishing photos I would like to put onto my pictures folder on my computer. My printer an HP Officejet 4500 Wireless has a scan capability but damn if I can make it work.

Any tips would be appreciated.

thanks in advance,
wunbe

What happens when you put the photo in it and hit the scan button? Do you hear the scanner bar moving inside it?

Will it make copies?

I'm sure it came with a manual. Read it.

If it didn't, I'm sure a manual is available on line. Find it. Read it.

Wouldn't be surprised if there were some YouTube videos on how to drive the thing, too.

You don't have to just sit there and say "I can't do it" anymore.

You may have to hardwire printer to your computer, unless your computer has built in wi-fi or you have it on a home wireless network that your printer can communicate with. Did you install the software that came with the printer, or just hoping that Windows can figure it out?

When you loaded the software for the HP print/scanner, It should put the stuff needed on your computer.

I found mine my going to control pannel, then find the icon for camera/scanners. When you open that it should "look" for all the devices that fit.

You may have to use the add a device for the first use.

then you can use the "print/scan" button of the HP to start the proccess.

It actually gets harder from here as things like orentation, scale, format have to be chosen.

I would suggest you figure it out as that ability works good for a lot of things.

If all that fails, you can go to a drug store and they can scan and put on a thumb drive

I have n HP 4680 and it works. try this. Put your picture in the scanner. Hit the arrow button until the screen says 'scan' and then hit the OK button. It will then ask what type of document you want. Hit the arrow key again until you get 'JPEG' for a picture and then hit OK. Then it will ask where you want the scan to go. Pic a folder or the desktop or some place where you want to keep scans. Then hit ok one last time to scan and send the scan to the place where you want it.

That is how mine works. :D

I have one of those scanner, printers. Thing gives me a fit at times. I discovered
you must reboot the darn thing if it sits idle for a period of time. Good Luck.
Hope that helps.ps

I have an epson scanner that you have to turn on and off to get to work if it sits for a while...

but if you can print with the unit then it should be connected to your computer... it is probably just that you have to find the right 'button' on the computer to push to get it to go to scan mode....if you have a Mac I might could help further... but that's the best I can do if you have winders.

The 'HP Print and Scan Doctor' program has helped me solve several problems with my printer/scanner.
Download the program and then let it find and fix the problem. It's free.
