I have a SBH 7 1/2" SBH in about 90-95%, bought used. Previous owner barely shot it, and I have probably not put 100 rds through it.

The kicker is that it doesn't have the safety warning printed on it. Not sure when they first started printing it on guns.

Question is - does this gun have any special collector's value without the warning? I am getting ready to make some mods to it, and if it has collector value, I would rather sell/trade it for a gun without any real collector as I am a shooter type of guy and not a collector. Plus, would be a shame to cut a collector gun.

Thoughts?

1978, IIRC, was the first year of the "Warning". The early, pre-Warning guns with left over OM cylinders have some definite collector appeal as do, to a lesser extent, the non-counterbored cylinder pre-Warning guns. Collectors want them in "as new" condition.

There's a HUGE difference, IMHO, between a 90% and a 95% example.....
