years ago about 25 yrs or so I had a 10/22 standard that I bought new did not have it .Now I have a 10/22 deluxe that i've had for about 5 years and bought it used I was wiping it down the other day and noticed it has the warning on the barrel the serial# is 235-17xxx .When did they start putting the warning on the guns .I'm just curious as I had never noticed it before ,my 73 SBH and my 1965 deerfield doesn't have it ,and dose it detract from it value it's in 98% condition ?Not that I think that it's worth anything speical.

I thought it was the following year, late 1978 for some models and the rest followed in January of 1979..but hey,it's early, I am on my first cup of coffee, waiting to pick up the little Ruger Dude....we got WORK to do........... another 30-40 wheelsbarrows of "old" wood chips ( mulch) 8)

I've got a 1977 10/22 that doesn't have it. I've been told it started in 1978. I'm sure it varried depending on the specific model though.

I hardly notice it to tell you the truth. My '82 Marlin 39A has one too. I didn't notice that one for over 20 years.
