I fully understand that the world as we know it is going down faster than Jenna Jameson in a porn flick. Sometimes we just have to get away...

I saw Huey Lewis and the News on New Year's eve when they warmed up Jimmy Buffett in Nashville. Great show! As someone who suffers from extreme hearing loss and almost unbearable tinnitus, I can somewhat relate to the following...

Huey has cancelled the rest of his 2018 concerts due to his degenerative hearing loss that appears to not be related to his high volume concerts. He's just a single year older than I am...

Here's to hoping that he can beat this! No matter what--Huey, thanks for the great memories! Spare me any negative comments. Thanks...

I'm not 100% sure which year it was but I saw him at the Omni in Atlanta in either 83 or 84 iirc. He put on a good show. That was back when he had hit big & they were headlining. I am sorry to hear this has happened to him.

Guess somebody FORGOT to tell him that LOUD NOISES WILL damage your hearing. WHat's the first thing they always tell you at a gun range?
EAR PLUGS !!
Sorry for him but ----

Meniere's disease is not believed to be related to noise exposure. The most likely cause is an autoimmune disorder.

Don't feel bad, Jim. I fully understand that it wasn't intentional. It ended as a boom as opposed to a crack. Really, it's water gone far under the bridge. I'd give a nut to be back there with you, Hank, and the rest of the Texas boys for another shoot at the Tin Star. Great days...

I think the world of you, Pat and the children/grandkids who you've helped raise into the fine men they've become! I do hope we'll meet again!

I'll be out your way in a couple of months. Maybe we can hook up...

Hi,

Serendipity? I just found out yesterday that my smart phone is still pretty dumb: it can't figure out that when you move music from the phone's memory to the MicroSD card, then delete the phone memory, you DON'T want the card erased, too. So I spent the morning putting some stuff back in. And the first album I played was Huey's self-titled album from way back when. Hadn't listened to it in who knows how long?

Then I stop in here to learn of Huey's bad news with his hearing. Hope they can save it! Maybe they've got a new drug? ;) Always did like him...

I wonder? I have it and have had hearing problems from an early age. Who knew cotton balls were not good hearing protection? Loud tinnitus in my left ear and 90 percent deaf in my right. Way too many years shooting without protection of any kind takes a terrible toll.
To be honest, I don't think they have any idea just what triggers off Meniere's disease.

Hi I always liked his music I feel for him if he is suffering from menieres I have it and doctors have told me on a scale of 1-10 I am a 11 after having full blown vertigo 30 hrs at a time 3 times a week they put a shunt against my brain stem and having cut the balance nerve in my brain for the left side of my body to stop the attacks I am totally deaf on the left and only about 40% on the right I told the doctors I had been exposed to loud noises with no protection for years guns and machinery but they said no it was from the menieres I know this is somewhat off topic so forgive me but had to throw this in

RIP Huey

Sad news. It's kind of depressing, how many of the musicians I enjoyed in my youth are now either in bad health or no longer with us.

But Golden Earring are still going strong after 50+ years! ;) Even the same line up since 1970 or so.
