Edit: Single Action, (not SAA) Made in 1957

I've wanted one of these since I first learned of them and their history.
Last week, my ship came in!
I got this in an even trade, no cash involved.

That is a nice piece......care to share the history of why you wanted one so badly? Since The Duke used a pair of those in his last movie (I was not aware of that fact ......until I did a search prompted by your post) it would appear that I will begin the search for a talisman of my own..........thank you.

Tinman, I see you're just up the road from me.
Howdy, neighbor! (My dad's roots are in Navarro Co, btw.)

You alluded to The Duke. The Hollywood connection is certainly intriguing, to me. I encourage any single action enthusiasts not familiar with the Great Western Arms Co. to read up on their short existence.
Much of their appeal, for me, has to do with the fit and finish of their guns, after the first couple of years. From what I've been told (and read) some years were "better quality years."
I got lucky; 1957 was a good year! :D

If you do not have it already you should get the Great Western book by Dougan & Hoobler, excellent read. Go to the 2nd topic at the top of this forum/page for the details.

Hey Tip, looks like we are more than neighbors......I was in the 82nd from 1975-79........which makes us dang near related.
For those that may be interested, here are some links to the history of the company and their relation to The Duke.

I have allways like the nice oval lines of the trigger guards on these guns.

Very pleasing to the eye.
