Welcome to the Forum!

Those came on a special edition if I recall correctly. But later on,, a few other models had grips like that for a short while.

And to help keep down the confusion to those folks not as versed in Ruger SA handguns,, we normally call them "Original Vaquero's" not "Old Model's."
The designation of "Old Model is reserved for the pre-safety transfer bar type of guns,, which are called "New Models" by Ruger. Easily spotted by the 3-screws ion the side of the main frame,, vs the 2 pins of the New Models.
But don't think I'm picking on you,, Ruger has muddied the waters with the "New Vaquero" designation for the mid-frame types.
So,, for decades,, we simply called all SA handguns made prior to 1973,, "Old Models" because Ruger called the next ones "New Model" on the side of the frame.

The "Original Vaquero" is known as the full sized framed guns,, with the New Model action type.

Confused yet? :D :D
